Use the clear nylon quilting thread & a heavy duty needle (i.e. for denim & canvas) I've been sewing album covers inside thick vinyl & it works perfectly.

if you seriously want to sew it, i would recommend fishing line, or that heavy duty invisible thread (used for quiting).

I've sewn through clear contact paper for quite sometime & it's not fatal. You'll need to change out your needle pretty frequently & use quilting thread. I don't use my machine for anything but odd craft sewing but I've been making and selling purses made with heavy vinyl & clear contact paper with regular paper or light cardboard sandwiched in the middle for over a year & my machine is still functioning (I probably made 50-75 purses in the last three months). I don't however do any fancy sewing & my machine was purchased with the understanding that I'd drive it until it croaked & then shell out another $150 on eBay. You would not want to mess with a superfine super expensive machine sewing non-sewables.
