A friend from work is expecting her first baby, so I've been immersed in all think pink, cute and baby-ish for the past few months.

We had been browsing at Pottery Barn Kids when she saw a mobile she absolutely loved (http://www.potterybarnkids.com/pkimgs/rk/images/products/200647/0006/img41l.jpg ).  The price tag?  A whopping $50 CDN.  Friends don't let friends spend their hard-earned money on overpriced mobiles... so I told her I'd make her a one-of-a-kind version for her baby.

I used scraps of pink and green fabric (to match the nursery decor), beading wire and crimp beads, 18-gauge craft wire in various colours, and low-temp hot glue.

Here's the final result:

I'm awfully proud of how it turned out, and she was absolutely in love (but we all know pregnant women can be a tad... err... emotional).  Hope you guys like too!

Wow, I like yours better than the original! The fabrics you used look really great together. I'll have to remember this for when I have a baby ... like in a million years.

this is beautiful!!

would you be willing to post a tutorial on how you made this?

I may be all grown up, but I still love mobiles in my room!

I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile. I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well. I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave. I will work work to elevate you, just enough to bring you down.

Wow! Nice knockoff!!! You have a real eye for colors and patterns! And I second a vote for a tut, at least for assembly..I can figure out the petals myself. Cheesy

That's beautiful! Something to look at for Mom and baby during those sleepless nights!

The gal who smiles when things go wrong has just thought of someone to blame it on.
