Designed a great new mosaic pattern, and decided to put it on wood so it would be lighter than on some other backers. This one took quite a bit of special time to nip and cut for the right shapes and curves.

Well, something bad happened...as it dried the wood warped, and made the mosaic grout crack in the middle.  Sad

So it looks good except the crack in the middle. I can always fill the crack, but I cannot sell it in my shop with such a flaw. Guess this is another one to put into my wall of shame.  Wink

Maybe we could do swaps for irregular pieces from the glass forums?  Smiley

What do you think of the YinYang design, and should I do the design over on a safe surface?

I think the design itself is cool. Definately try it again on a better backing for it Wink

"just keep crafting, just keep crafting"

Sorry I've been gone so long. Am trying to get back on the boards. Body's thrown me for a few loops these past months and am still learning to adjust. Thanks for your patience.

I made a pair of mosaic coasters once with yin/yang symbols.  pitty I never took a picture.  I think it is a fun design, and yours looks much more symmetrical than mine did.

Thank you for the compliments.  Smiley

The mistake was in not sealing the wood before I moaiced. I thought it had been done, but clearly was mistaken.  Tongue

I may patch the grout, and go from there because it seems to have flattened itself out.
