Willing to personal swap for art of my doggies!

I made these for a Secret Santa on another forum I belong to - the recipient rescued a greyhound a couple of years ago, and I made her some coasters as part of her package.  There are six of them, painted with permanent glass/ceramic paints onto a 4x4 tumbled stone tile, then baked, and with a coaster glued to the back, so that it does not scratch the table.

I was very frustrated by this project - something happened to my paints and air bubbles kept forming, and during the baking, they would expand and enlarge.  The first time this happened, I sanded down the bubbled areas, and repainted, being very careful not to form too many bubbles.  Then I took a pin and pricked any bubbles I could still see after the 24 hour drying period, so that the air was released - and bubbles still blew up - ARGH!!!!!  I think this was a problem with the older, cheaper paints I had - did not seem to happen withe the Pebeo stuff - regardless, this ended up being tedious because of the bubbles and the layers of outlining, and colour.

This is a sample of it with just the outlining

Here are the 6 finished ones:

I drew the images on (used clipart I found for the pics) with pencil, and used a ceramic paint pen to do the outline, baked it, painted the colour in, baked it, then outlined again.

I totally love these. My old boss and his wife rescued several greyhounds. If I had the patience (and painting skills) I would totally make them a set! Well done.

These look really nice! I know this is an older post, but your work deserved compliment and greyhound adoption can always use a little more attention. (Yes, I am "owned" by a retired racer.) Smiley

Thank you.  I got an e-mail back from the recipient after she got them, and she loved them.  I meant for them to be coasters, but I think she decided to actually display them as ornaments as she liked them so much.

Unfortunately, this past summer, her greyhound became quite ill.  I am sad to say that he passed away from a rapidly progressing cancer at a young young age, just 10 days shy of 5.  I never met that dog, but she had wonderful pics and posts of him, and I felt like I knew him, and just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye.

The good news is that she published a book of his pics and a portion of the proceeds go towards a grey charity, and she just adopted a new hound.  She is a 9 year old female grey.

As a Mom of two retired racers, I have to say your coasters are lovely and a thoughtful gift.

Great job!
