How about "Krazy Kolor Knitting": You have to knit in a single color, but it has to be some wierd color(s). Wierd color names count too!

I haven't gone through all 15 pages of this thread yet, so forgive me if this idea has been given...but I think it would be neat to do vintage knitting, knitting a pattern from a book published before, say, 1960. Or even a specific decade.

Thanks, Tignor!  I think all or most of the theme ideas throughout the thread have been added to the list in the first post, and actually vintage knitting is not only one that has already been suggested, but one that has already been done as a challenge. Cheesy

So...we're going to be starting a knitting challenge here real soon and would like your suggestions for themes!

Here are some themes that were suggested a long time ago:
Knitty Nauty - Knitted sea critters
Knitter Glitter - Knit some bling
Curious Cozies - Cozies both wacky and wonderful
Bookish Bears - One Bear, Billions of Characters
Itty Bitty Knitting - Size matters!  0's and smaller!
Stash-a-gogo - Using up the holiday leftovers
Frankenstitch - Horror Knits & Monsters
KnitFlick - Movie knitters unite!
The Amazing Race - (See bloocanoe's post)
Reduce, ReUse, ReYarn - Recycled yarn only!
I Lost my Yarn! - Knit using non-yarn / thread materials
600 Yard Dash - You've got 600 yards and you have to use it all!
Purses without Patterns - Design your own and include a pattern or tutorial
Knitting Trifecta - Three things, one theme
Knit Toy Couture - Design a complete "look" for any toy
Knit-moticon - Knit your feelings
Selfish, Selfish - Knitting to pamper yourself
Red Hot Knitters - Sexy knits
Future Knitters - Knitting for babies
Woof, Meow, Cheep - Knitting for animals
Objets d'art - Knitted art pieces
Objets d'objets - Knitted everyday objects (forgive me if I've butchered French.)
Knitrigue - Knit a disguise or costume
World Knitting - Create an item to represent a country
Body Parts - Only items for a certain body part - Mod choose the part. 
Mad Hatter - Knitted head coverings, explore your imagination here!
Celebrity Knits - Knit an item to represent a celebrity
I-Cord Challenge - I-Cord.  Use it.
Knit Locally - Your project must center around local resources.  Include a supplies list with contact info if possible.
Pure Science - Knits from hard science and math
Pure Science Fiction - Movies, books, comics, TV... as long as it's Sci-fi
Pure Fantasy - Movies, books, comics, TV... as long as it's Fantasy
Gods and Legends - Knits based on myth, legend and classical religion
Bobbles and Blackberries - That says it all
Pattern Chango - Find a published pattern and alter it
You're Full of it - A fulling challenge
Anatomically Correct - Knit body parts and organs
Freeform Knitting - The only goal is beauty
Fugly Knitting - The only goal is not beauty
Who Am I - Knit a representation of yourself
Oneders - That's One-ders, as in skeins
That's So Wrong - Knitting things that should never be knit
A Rose By Any Other Name - Knit your name or screen name, literally or figuratively
Mind your P's & K's - Knit and Purls only!
Be Square - Knitting blanket squares for charity
Knitting with a Twist - Cabled Knitting
Add Some Sparkle - Knitting with beads
Fringe & Tassel - Knitting with, well, fringe, and tassels. 
Scrooged - Knitting on the cheap, $10 materials limit
Supersize Me - Knitting in a BIG gauge
Spectrum - Knits of the rainbow
Back to Math Class - Knitting geometric shapes
Tree Cozies - Knit a tree sweater or cozy and photograph it ON a tree

I love the idea of knitting to pamper yourself!! I never do that Smiley. I think the i-cord challenge could generate some cool projects too.

I'm a beginner knitter, so I'm not sure how many of these categories I could do... but I like the selfish knitting, the amazing race, the knit and purl only, and the cables.  I feel like I could come up with entries for those anyway!

Itty Bitty knitting sounds like fun, too... I'd have to get some new needles, though! lol
