A fun fur challenge would be fun, but I'd be inclined to want to make a rule that it HAD to be used to simulate hair or fur.  It could get interesting.  Sure, there'd be lots of "fur" collars and cuffs, maybe a "fur" muff or two, and a wig here and there.  But think of all the other things that have hair!  Cheesy

If it lives in the water or flies in the air, I'm in love with it. In New Zealand I saw a flying fish and almost wet myself.

i think a "Geektastic" theme would be fun.  there have been some nerd-minded projects on the knitting forum lately (DNA double helix, Companion Cube, etc.) and if that's too broad an idea, you could always combine it with something else, like a stash limit or expense parameter.

Oh, it's just kittens.

I want to leave this world the way I came into it:  naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood.

I dont know if these are what other already suggested but here is some random thoughts:
-CrazyCozyMania, Knit something that can cover something like a cozy(lamps, computer, etc.)
-HiddenMeaning-Knit something that has a secret compartment or can turn into something else
-MergeKnits-Knit something that combined something with something else(scarves with fingerless gloves at the end, onepiece knitted suits
(ok cant think of anything else now...)

I honestly didn't read all 14 pages, but how about a one skien/ball challenge? All projects can only use one skien of yarn!  Tongue

I would definitely go for the knitting with unusual supplies challenge. I've seen really cool grocery bags knitted out of plastic bags, and knitting with wire is always fun. And of course, knitting out of thrift store clothing. Or there could be an altered clothing category, eg, make a new clothing item where your first row is part of the original (non-knit) piece.
