I would imagine so yes lol, that's also why you don't use foodcoloring when making your own soaps Wink

Sorry I've been gone so long. Am trying to get back on the boards. Body's thrown me for a few loops these past months and am still learning to adjust. Thanks for your patience.

Not only would food coloring stain your mouth, it will also fade with time in the tube because it's not light-resistant.

Olive oil by itself with the beeswax will make a very nice but uber-greasy lip balm. You can use just about any liquid oil you'd find in the oil section of your local grocery store.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL if you use citrus essential oils to flavor your lip balms! The ones that you see everywhere in stores have turpenes in them, and will cause a phototoxic reaction if you put them on and go into the sun! Think MAJOR sunburn on your mouth that doesn't go away for MONTHS.

Jesus, I just saw that I actually wrote te food colouring thing in this recipe, that's not supposed to be there! (for another recipe yes, but I don't know what that was ....) But I guess most people knew you can't really mix food colouring with oil anyways...? Cheesy Well, find out the hard way.... And Martin - I think there are special essential oils for these kinds of things (I use that anyway), like the ones you use for all other beauty products when flavouring them.

i'm making lip balm for Christmas this year on a very strict budget...so I used a soy/canola mix with Vitamin E (Smart Balance cooking oil!), beeswax ( i got it from Michael's in US), and peppermint extract (from seasonings isle in local grocery).

they worked out great! i had to add more beeswax to get the consistency i wanted, but other than that I have enough stuff left over to make some more! ( i made 16 4 oz containers!)
