Hey everyone!  I have been searching the web for fun and funky printed fabric.  All the really great on-line sources are out of the US.  I am hesitant to order from out of country for fear of outrageous shipping, duty, etc.  Has anyone from SK purchased from the US sites and can tell me what to expect? Any other advice on this matter would be awesome!

Thanks
Patty

Sorry for the VEEEERY late response on this...

I have purchased fabric within Canada from Tonic Living. If you are looking for funky fabrics, that is the place to go! Smiley Also, if you enter the code: craftster, you get 10% off of your order. Sweet! Orders within Canada arrive quickly (at least, mine always have).

Another site I recommend is equilter.com[url]. It is based out of the US. They have a huge selection and their prices are reasonable. They have been very reliable and they don't charge a ridiculous amount for shipping...my orders usually arrive within a week of ordering. The company donates 2% of every order to a charity of your choice, so that is kind of nice too! Wink

The only drawback to the US sites is that you will have to pay a bit extra for shipping and then duty (if your order totals over $30).

Good luck in your online fabric hunt!

I've ordered from a few companies, and shipping really varries. A lot of companies will send around 4 or 5 m to Canada in a UPS envalope for about $9 shipping, but then sometimes you have to pay duty or handling on top, so make sure you check what they are charging you for.

These are companies I've ordered from:

fatquartershop.com -- I had to pay extra tax and handling on top of the shipping, so it ended up being more expensive, but they have a lot of great fabric

fabric.com -- they are usually a few dollars cheaper a yard, but they charge a flat rate -- so $12 for 6 m and under, and $24 for 7 - 12 m, etc -- so watch out. No extra tax or duty or anything with them

keepsakequilting.com -- no extra fees with my order from them, either, and they have quite a lot of funky stuff, especially a lot of nice batiks and assortments.

Anyway, I hope that helps. I'll have to check out that Tonic store the pp mentioned, though. Sounds great.
