I had a really hard time removing self stick stamps, so I actually didn't use too many on my tin.  They would always rip and separate when I tried to remove them from envelopes.  So I don't really have any tips on how to remove them.  I guess I would say just stick to the lickable stamps, as they come off of envelopes very easily.

Do they not just soak off, like regular stamps?
I wouldn't know, my stamp collecting days were waaaay before self-stick stamps came in!

Couldn't you just leave them attached to the envelope, but cut off the excess paper? They'd still stick with mod podge.

I imagine you might be able to cut the paper around the stamp, and then at the very least you could peel off one layer of the paper, you know?  So there would still be some paper attached, but just a very thin piece.

Melinda (also stopped collecting before self-stick stamps)

Yeah, when I did use the self stick stamps I just cut them out from the envelope and Mod Podged them on.  They just look a little sloppy around the edges when you do it that way.

Maybe if you were super-patient you could get those cheap scissors that cut in patterns (like for scrapbooking or card making) -- I know there is one that cuts in a "stamp-edge" pattern.  I mean, if you wanted to be a stickler and had a lot of patience to cut the paper so that it *looked* like stamp-edge.

Heh heh, I've done it!  Have been saving stamps off letters (people BUY stamp collections? I don't understand...) for ages, just KNOWING I'd find a use for them one day - I save many things, it drives my DH nuts  Grin  Had a dish of hot water and even the self-stick ones soaked off in a minute or so.  Very easy.
Lucky I have family all over the world so a nice variety  Smiley  Only had enough for one tea canister, but hey, Christmas is coming, just think of all those cards!  Shocked

Right, off goes I to varnish the tin before they all fall off  Undecided
