Hello craftsters!  I'm stuck on this had.  I started doing the decreases after placing the stitch markers at every 8th stitch.  The instructions basically said to "knit 2 together in each section before the marker or before switching needles" (I totally paraphrased that since I have my book at home).  So I decreased before the marker on every needle but didn't touch the second set of 8 stitches.  Now that I have only 3 stitches left before the markers and 8 after the markers I think I did it wrong.

Am I supposed to decrease two times on each needle- before the marker and before switching needles?  Huh  Thanks for your help!

I think they intended you to think of the end of the needle as a marker, since you couldn't actually put a marker there because it would fall off.  Like, if when you started decreasing, you had 16 stitches on a needle separated by a marker, you'd decrease before the marker, and again at the end of the needle in the second set of 8.

If the hat isn't really lopsided as you've done it, you could probably just re-space your makers and go from there.  Otherwise, you might have to do some unknitting.

Good luck!

Thanks- that's what I figured I should be doing once I was almost done with the decreases.  I took everything out and started again last night.  This time around I'm going to keep track of each round and make sure I have the right number of stitches!   Wink
