I recently made a few crocheted items for a swap, so I thought I'd post them here. The swap was based on the Discworld book 'The Hogfather' by Terry Pratchett. Hogswatch on the Discworld is similar to Christmas, but with a certain bias towards pigs (lots of sausages and so on), so I made this little piggy, imagining it to be a traditional Hogswatch present:

Witches and wizards feature heavily in the Discworld books, so I made these bookmarks, which I was rather pleased with. They were very simple, but fun if you like these sort of books, or Harry Potter. I think I'll make some for myself.

Sorry about the photo quality, I took them very quickly before I posted the package.

They're hollow. They were made from quite thin yarn, I think it's referred to as finger-weight, and they hold their shape well. Crochet cotton would be good for that too, but it's hard to come by in interesting colours here in the UK.

Hi there!  Cheesy If I may, how does one do a swap? I only started crocheting a few days ago to prove a point Wink and now I'm into it~! The hats look so cool but, as I'm a novice, I don't even know what the concept of a swap is here.  Huh Help?

Hi! Go along the the Organised Craft Swaps forum (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=365.0#axzz2RXy1hrET) and you'll be able to find out more about the swaps here. Basically swaps get proposed, and as long as someone's prepared to organise them they get listed here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=75.0#axzz2RXyFyTKz

If you want to join a swap you need to read the thread about it and fill in the questionnaire - you have to have been a member here for a minimum time, so you'll need to check that.

Swaps are great fun, they're a good way to get introduced to and practice new crafts, and make friends.
