Okay, that didn't come out so hot... Go to my blog and copy it/print it out, it's bigger and clearer..
Oh yeah, just click on the picture and it will pop up in a new window, you should be able to view it bigger (depending on your browser) by clicking on it again or pointing your cursor to the bottom right hand side.

Thanks! This chart is super-cool!  I'm trying to get my knitting a bit more organized, and this is a great idea.

I've go one trick that's so simple I've been taking it for granted. I'm not sure if it's already been posted.

I've all but abandoned using a slip knot as my first cast-on stitch. I just make a simple, make-one stlye loop, then proceed with my usual long-tail cast-on.

Do you mean like a reverse-loop-thingy?

This is the simplest way to explain it [right-handed directions]:
Hold your needle in your right hand. Drape the yarn over your needle. For a long-tail cast on, the cut end should be hanging behind the needle, and the strand leading to the ball should be hanging in front.

Now cross the strands below the needle, spreading them apart with your left thumb and index finger, and carry on with your cast-on.
