I really really want to make these for a British friend of mine, cause they're perfect for him! I would just buy one, but $60 is WAY out of my price range.  Undecided They're coated in Silicon, and I thought maybe I could coat them in liquid latex, since I couldn't find silicon to buy anywhere. Any ideas?? Do you think that would work? I guess I'm just worried about putting it in the dish washer, and I'm not sure if liquid latex will come off. Or, maybe someone knows where I can get silicon? Thanks guys!

Here's the link for the info on the cups...

Latex would definitely come off -- if not in the dishwasher, then definitely in your hands.  I've never used this stuff, but it might be worth checking out:

I've also found these if you're feeling adventurous:

I can't wait to see what your version looks like and see if any of those silicones will actually work for your purposes!  Good luck!

Sheesh, and I thought I was good with Google! lol I can't wait to get the silicon and try it. Not to mention, this gives me an excuse to buy all the cool tea cups I've been seeing in my local thrift stores! Wink

Yea, I wasn't too crazy about the way they look at the bottom. But the idea of them not slipping off of a slanted surface, or tea plate (?) sounded like a GREAT idea to me! I'm assuming the stuff I just ordered is clear, so if I put that over the top of a really neat vintage cup, I won't lose the pretty design. Smiley I'll post pics when I get the project done.  Grin

Maybe you could also try tool dip, the stuff that you can coat tool handles with.  You can get it at the hardware store, and it comes in like five colors, including clear.

Actually if it's silicone you want, you can buy it at aquarium stores - it's used as a sealant for tanks. it's medical grade cos anything else would hurt the little fishies. (You can actually DIY a divacup with the same stuff!)

good luck!
