I painted murals in my sister-in-law's playroom. She has an eight year girl and a six year old boy, so we tried to come up with something that they could both live with. The room is quite large, the castle, knight & princess are approximately 3.5' x 5' each, the shields are approx. 1.5' x 2.5' each, and the three desserts total 2' x 5'. The total project took me 48 hours to complete, I used acrylic paints. My inspiration came from my niece's favorite book, "Princess Penelope". My pics aren't the best, but I'm posting what I have.

CA-UTE! I have a friend that does murals on her girls' walls. I plan on doing the same when I have kids...your style actually reminds me a lot of hers too....like I said...very cute, love it!

OH my!! I love them! I bet they do too! How creative. Did you come up with the designs yourself? What type of paints did you use?

The room was a big hit! I used a children's book for my inspiration. When I was planning out the design, I figured out that it would be much easier and faster to use an overhead projector than to draw the images freehand. I used transparencies to trace the basics from the book, then I changed them up and added my own ideas to make them suit the theme of the room. I projected the images on the walls, traced them lightly with a pencil, then I painted them with watered down acrylic paint and blotted with a paper towel to give a watercolor look. After the paint was dry, I outlined the images with a black sharpie (it was easier than paint and looks the same) to go along with the style of the book, then I glued on .5" flat back "gems" in strategic places just for fun.
