I ordered the yarn for this at elann.com on Tuesday as a birthday/Christmas present to myself!    I really need some mitts, my hands are always cold, especially since it decided to turn cold here in So Cal yesterday! Bah!

But I won't be starting them until I finish my grandmother's Clapotis. That might be a while. Most likely after Christmas.

Fingering weight is much heavier than lace. I'm going to order from Knitpicks to make these... not sure when, though. They are beautiful!

im using cheapish red heart lustersheen for the first pair...in a mulberry ish red and black...then i have some of the bare lace weight from knit picks that im going to dye red and purple to make for my boyfriends mother im thinking...i may modify them to have fingers though....i think she would prefer that.  shes rather conservative.

I think I might try to make some of these for my sisters - both get very cold hands. I'm thinking of Knit Picks Gloss and one of the fingering weight Bare yarns - either to dye, or use as is. The Gloss doesn't come in enough colors, but I think it would be a good substitute.

I'm really excited to get these started.  I've been knitting for years, but I've never done fair isle, and I think it'll be a good fair isle starter.  Plus, I'm addicted to fingerless gloves.

I'm waiting for my LYS holiday sale next week to buy the yarn.

I've bought the yarn for these, but haven't cast on yet. These are the colours I'm using:


I just started Knitty's Coronet for myself, I think I'll finish that first. It's -39C outside today, so I need a hat more than I need fingerless mitts. Also, I don't have needles the right size, and NO WAY am I going outside if I don't have to.

EDITED: because it always takes me two tries to get the pictures right. So forgetful.
