There's an incredible fabric store - fabric world in stone mountain right off Hwy 78. It's right next to the K&G. They have an awesome selection of upholstery fabrics, 100% silk, pretty much everything. I went in there this past weekend during an inventory sale during which everything was $1/yard.

I'm from Snellville and completely spoiled by having the store so close. I'm in withdrawel in Kennesaw, anyone know anything good up here? All I know of is a brand new bead store off Cherokee St.

Had to update that the Discount Fabrics has been demolished.  They paved fabrice paradise to put up a parking lot, so to speak . . .

Hey Girls!

Personally, I am really into sewing clothes. There is a great fabric store by the Lindberg Marta Station called Discount Fabrics. ....
If you're interested in stopping by one of these stores, let me know if you have trouble finding it!

There is nothing on the southside.  I don't think people on the southside do crafts.
As far as fabric stores, Intown Quilters on zonolite is great (pricey though).  Its off Briarcliff.  Otherwise, on the southside in jonesboro there is a quilt store.  i know of nothing else.

You don't?

It seems more like the stinking stores don't think people there do crafts.

Please give us more credit!  We have to use more gas and spend more time hunting down the stuff we want!

 Huh

Hi ya'll! I'm heading to Dragon*Con this year, and I was wondering if there's anything near Peachtree or Spring Streets (walking distance) I could hit.

And how safe the area is, too...I'm a country girl, and the big city makes me nervous Tongue

I'll be at DCon, too! Sadly, nothing I know of in walking distance...

Don't stress out over the safety issue. During DCon, there are con people EVERYWHERE. Use the same common sense issues as always: careful where you go alone, especially at night; stay away from strange men; watch your alcohol consumption in a strange area, especially if you don't have a friend along.

But the con area is fairly well lit and heavily traveled. Stick with the same areas as everyone else, and you'll be fine. I wouldn't go exploring after dark, but you'll be fine.

Downtown has almost nothing worth walking to.  It'll be safe enough that weekend because they up the security but just be smart and don;t get so wasted you don;t see the bad guy coming to rob you.  Seriously you'll be fine but craft-supply-less.

Hi everyone!  I'm going to be in Atlanta in August (I know I'm a bit crazy!) and I was wondering if anyone has heard of any craft fairs that will be going on or of any other crafty events.  Also, I'm really into quilting, knitting, and scrapbooking.  Does anyone have suggestions of places that are a "must go".  I'd like something a little different from the norm.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

youngblood gallery in Grant Park area
art house co-op in decatur

Both of these have a craft store of handmade awesome items from locals and national artists.  some is cheap, some is not.  You'll love it!

Also, Intown Quilters is a nice store near Decatur with lots of contemporary fabrics and its big!  Not cheap though.

There's a knitting store called Knitch is VA Highlands but its in a crazy location so you'll need to research it!

August 25 is a summer fest in Grant Park.  Its big and 2 days.

No boutique, or swingin hot spot?  *sigh* you don't know what you got till it's gone...Okay, done with that now  Grin.  I'm from the wonderful (awful, insanely crafter-UNfriendly) Paulding County.  I can't think of anything at all out my way.  There's a Michaels...no fabric.  Wal-Mart?  They're taking out the craft sections. *sigh again*

Wow. You don't live that far away from Atlanta, but there's not really anything around you. I guess you'll just have to stock up when you're in the city and recycle cloth from thrift stores and yard sales...
