Clothing Challenge Ideas!!

Some pretty good ideas floating around here!

I would like to be challenged into making something from some butt ugly fabrics that I either inherited, was out of my head when I bought it, or liked at one time and changed my mind! ugh!

Maybe I should donate some of the fabric as a prize....

i would totally be interested in having a clothing design/sewing contest.
i think a cool type of theme would be pickin the style. for example maybe chic,
street, or etc. please update me if you finally decided (:

Ooooohh, I love the reconned bridesmaid dress idea!! People are constantly giving me clothing with the tagline 'maybe you can do something with this' - so from that alone, I've got about dozen bridesmaid and bridal gowns sitting in my closet right now >_< 

Some other ideas I had:
Concept Design- we start with an inspiration, and each of us take it from there.
Fashion of the Future.
Doppleganger, or Jeckall and Hyde- two outfits, one that portraits your personality perfectly, and one that is off kilter or your polar opposite.

now that you mention it, i didn't really suggest anything practical at all... then again, i'm not know for practicality haha   

but anyway, i just thought it'd be cool to see what people came up with. i've often experimented with j&h inspired makeup on my friends- one half of the face sweet and faerie-like, and the other side vampy and evil, etc.

i think it'd be a lot harder to do one half of an outfit like one thing, and the other half like another, which is why i suggested the two outfits...sort of like the 'good you' and the 'evil you'...or something along those lines. i don't think i'm explaining it quite right   

i definitely agree with you on the bridesmaid point, though- that could get frightening!!

You know, a lot of the designer clothing is not practical but the point is to take ideas and be creative...push the envelope...I mean, if everything was to be practical, why not just go buy clothes, right?

I know that one other member and I were discussing a challenge to make something very very practical--that you could use tons of ways and for lots of events...beyond the basic black dress, I mean...

It could be a jacket like she made, or maybe a pair of pants that turn into a skirt, or a blouse that can be worn inside out or backwards...does that sound at all appealing to anybody?

I definitely like the designer knock off suggestion and also the clothing not made from fabric.  We could also get suggestions from the tv show Project Runway...they have a lot of great ideas especially from past seasons!

what about clothing as tribute: maybe it's a reference to a favourite tv show/book/movie, maybe it's a tribute to the techniques your grandma taught you, maybe it's reconed from something that was once owned by someone you love...
