So tempted to call the post office and ask where it is. Wish we had cool online tracking like the rest of the world...
OK, I'll tell you what.  I'll call my post office and ask them.  I got a slip in the mail yesterday telling me my V Festival tickets have arrived by registered post and I need to pick them up.  Sooo, (rather than waiting to get a slip in my mailbox tonight and picking up Monday) I'll call to see if they close for lunch and ask if they have anything else for me while I'm at it.  If the yarn ball is there too, then I will make a lunch time trek back out to the burbs.  WE do have limited trackability here in OZ, provided you send registered or express.  I won't be able to find out the exact location of my parcel necessarily.  But they will be able to tell me when the package left NSW and when/if it arrived in my suburb.  Pretty sure it was registered right?  I'll grab the ref# from your PM before I call.

Don''t put yourself out. As I mentioned before I'm just horribly impatient, although I shouldn't be, I have my yarn ball  Grin

Seriously though I was hoping it would arrive for you by the weekend as I know that Australia Post's general guideline for packages between adjoining East Coast capitals is 3 business days, and as I sent it registered I thought they wouldn't dare lose it!

I knew I should have sent it express but the woman at the PO talked me out of it saying it would take about the same amount of time anyway.

Turns out she was right.  I just got off the phone to the post office, and the card that I thought was to announce the arrival of my festival tickets... is actually the yarn ball.  So it arrived yesterday.  I will go and pick it up at lunch.  It is OK, because I drove to my train station this morning, just in case I needed to scoot back.  Oh, and they don't close for lunch.

Be prepared to be super jealous, because my swap partner SlickMariaVic is the best!! Here are some pictures of the yarny goodness

Included in the ball (which was cotton fleece, 80%20% cotton wool, in a beautiful olivey color) was:
a plastic orange giraffee
a gorgeous pair of size 8 bamboo needles for my project
a jar of yummy jam that I can't wait to try this sunday at brunch
2 adorable clay sheep that I think are needle point protectors??
Ferrero Roche (not sure how that's spelled since I ate them as soon as I got them) candies.
Beautiful handmade? stitch markers (can't tell cause they are so professional)
4 sparkley buttons
a handknit soap scrubby thingy with a lace heart on it
a beeswax candle
an orange sharpie mini
a pretty japanese girl pouchy/wallet, I think it might be vintage- so freakin' cool
funky stickers
a pretty felted necklace and earing set that is beaded (hard to explain look at the pics) felted beads with seed beads sewn on-must have taken forever. then strung with beads inbetween.
some lipgloss that tastes like strawberry skittles-I think this might be making my lips more chapped because I can't stop licking it Wink
are you jealous yet?? Thanks sooo much Maria I love everything so much, I hope you get your ball soon..swap anxiety setting in. This has been such a fabulous swap, I hope there's another round soon! Grin

Ya the sheep are point protecters. I saw the sheep stitch markers on your wist and tried my hand at them. I haven't the slightest idea how that lady made them small enough to be used for that purpose so I just decided to make point protectors instead. Ones a boy with little rammy horns and the other is a girl with a bow in her locks.
Huckleberries are big here so I had to include some homemade jam. I'm sure it will be great for brunch! I don't know if the wallet thingy is vintage. They were like 2 for a dollar at this estate sale I went to and they had a HUGE box! I got one for myself too with a bunch of asian ladies sitting in a drawing room doing traditional embroidery and painting. And yes *blush* I made the stitch markers myself using the circle end of some toggles I had. But I have to say that the giraffe charm is my all time favorite. I got it at the same estate sale and the neck is soooooo long that its head stuck out of the top of the ball while its feet could still be seen at the bottom LOL! I'm glad you loved everything! I had an awesome time.

I have received.

This is definitely one rockin' package.  Inside...

Note the use of coordinating tissue paper, seen that anywhere before?  What a huge coincidence!  I assure you this is not something we discussed before we both posted.  Also, while we had spoken about colour a little, we did not discuss any colour decisions.  Despite this, our packages appear to have harmonious schemes.  Are you scared yet?

Clearly this is indeed a most magic yarn ball.  It has it's own magic wand  Grin

Now according to the most wonderful Sharre, the white/pastel yarn you see is merely the outer layer.  It is there to hold everything together, not silly eh?  It doubles as a bit of a tease I think too.  Wink

Already I have become all too excitable, bothering all my work mates with my yarny prizes.  They are used to such things by now, except for my jumping up and down, that is new.   Roll Eyes

Even more awesome pics to come shortly,  I was too impatient to share and so haven't uploaded everything yet.  What I have managed to do is choose out a nice carry basket to tote the yarn ball around in as I knit.  It matches, of course.
