hello everyone! i wanted to make my bf a pillow of this cute character's head but it called for an oval shape... i was wondering if anyone has any idea or link where it shows how to do that.

if you're curious, i was going to crochet him an amigurumi of gloomy, http://www.madamedgar.com/en/gloomies.jpg, but i decided to make him a huge pillow instead =)

I image instead of a circular top, you could do it in pieces (i.e. one side would be 2 semi-circles and a square or rectanlge in the middle) or as a 2-piece (same basic shapes, top & bottom) with a lot of straight rows in the middle. The stuffing would round it out to a basic oval, I think.

To crochet an oval, instead of joining your initial chain into a loop, and crocheting around that, you crochet a length of chain, single crochet back down the chain, then all the way around the other side of it, (but I guess it would need an increase at the ends).

Here's an example: http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa100299.htm
