package(s) never received, angel(s) never called
«
on:
November 20, 2006 03:59:42 AM »
hi,
this has happened to me a couple of times now and i have no idea of what to make.
i am not even going to talk about swaps that took place last year in which i never got any package and never got angels to replace the packages...
i signed up for a swap that had two organizers (in my opinion that didn't worked properly), someone claimed me but i never got her package, i never got a replacement package and i never got an angel for this swap.
this person doesn't even have this swap listed on the swap feedback on her profile.
i contacted the organizers about this,
what can i do more about all this situation???
i don't even care about the package anymore, i just wish things like this won't happen again because it has happened to me some times now and i think it's really unfair.

Please open a ticket via the Help Desk

and the Swap Moderators will get right with you. Please be sure to assign the ticket to Swap rather than Misc.
Thanks much!

I am probably the one who sent you that package that never arrived. I have proof of sending and I am really sorry that it never got there. I could make you another package. It's just that I never really got an answer about what is the right thing to do in cases like this. I made a package that I'm proud of, based on your wishes, and I couldn't make as good a package again (because I can't get the supplies). It would be good to know what a swap moderator would say about this, because I really don't know what to do. It doesn't feel good that the package I made just disappeared, but I guess that happens... apparently...
The organizer did suggest that I make a small replacement package and send it, but it wouldn't feel right making a not-as-good package. It would be great to get some kind of "official" answer as to what to do in cases like this.
I also never got that swap registered as "in progress" in my profile, even though I PMed the organizers at least four times about it. After that many PMs you kind of give up...

Veludo, I have a feeling this is the unconditional swap for september that I organized right?
The person who claimed you let me know that she sent quite a while ago and I did let you know that. You let me know you hadn't received yet, and I asked to give her a bit more time. I was trying to give it enough time to be sure. She's overseas and, I believe she shipped it by boat, which can take quite a while. It has been too long and to be honest some things have happened in my life and I sort of forgot to ask you again if you received yet, (that is absolutely my fault and I truly apologize!)
After you pm'd me today I pm'd her again. If I don't hear back from her by tonight I will be getting you an angel.
You will absolutely get something! You were the only one in the swap to be "flaked" on, but she said she sent, and is still active, so I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. I also know that overseas shipping can sometimes take a long time. I will pm you soon, but you are right this shouldn't happen to anyone. I'm very sorry.

O.k. if it's the unconditional swap you'e talking about, it's not me, but the same thing happened to you when I sent to you in the August wist swap, right?

Just a suggestion - if this has happened to you many times yet the senders DID actually send, you *may* have a problem with your postal delivery. Is there an alternate address you could send to? I usually have packages sent to my work address precisely to avoid this problem. For a bit of history, my mother has had sometimes HORRIBLE non-service by her postmen/women. TO the point that upon occasion decades-old family friends who have mailed to us for years got mail returned saying "No such address", and she ROUTINELY gets mail for houses down the block or on ANOTHER block entirely.
And then your story puts me in mind of the postal employee who was found to have 8 years worth of correspondence that he never delivered just sitting in his apartment...
So, yeah, basically I'm saying it may be the fault or your swap partner, or possibly it could be something else. Just an idea.

That is a good point. I have my mail delivered to my inlaws for the same reason. We have terrible service to our house.

I would still like to know what I am supposed to do though. I feel really bad about your situation. I always take pictures of my swap packages with stamps and everything before I send, and I still have those pictures (it's the best proof I can get when mailing internationally). I don't want anyone to think that I flaked, and if necessary I will try to make another package if that is what is required from me.
It would be great to get a swap mod's opinion on this...

I know that if you were to send by boat from Australia/US or the other way around (and I assume other places to other places) we get quotes of three months for the package to arrive, or 12-16 weeks.
