Any ideas about how to start something like this?

http://www.eluxury.com/browse/product_detail.jhtml?styleid=11147059&SectionID=9000&swatch=11325134

Thanks!

isn't it just a very short fat scarf with some ribbing at one (or both, can't tell) ends, and some button and loop closures? oh, i guess you'd have to knit it double/ on circular needles if you wanted it reversible (not that that one seems to be).

Here it is on another site:

http://www.shopbop.com/shop/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441793504&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024641&fm=browse-category&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181057

This one gives the measurements & how many buttons there are & a front view.

The zoom in feature looks like it's double knit. It's pretty cute, that's for sure.

i'm just still in shock at the price, or maybe more at the fact that someone might actually pay that much money for it.  i mean are they serious?  $198?  They have to know anyone with basic knitting skills could make that in an evening or two with some chunky merino and 4 metallic anchor buttons from the sewing store.

definitely cute, but definitely overpriced for the original.

It kind of reminds me of one of the projects in Last Minute Knitted Gifts...maybe have a look at that?

Hahaha!

I made legwarmers out of an old sweater a while ago and had the main body part left, so I cut armpit to armpit and ended up with something just like that. Plus, it has buttons going up the sides. I remember thinking "What the heck can I do with this? Neck warmer!"

Cool--thanks for the other links (better pictures there). I'll see what I can come up with during the holidays and post a pic!
