You start out with those "silk flowers" you buy from craft/dollar stores and string lights of desired color. This time I used a Hawaiian lei and white christmas lights (50 count). I've done one with pink lights before, that one was really pretty too.

Then you have to remove all the plastic green parts attaching the flowers to the stems, they usually pull out. For the lei, I just had to cut the string. There will be a tiny hole in the middle of the flower, you will need to use a scissor and cut a tiny slit to widen the hole. 1-2 mm will be enough, do not cut too much or it will fall off.

Separate out the light bulb by pulling on the green rim, NOT the light bulb by itself. Do not twist and do not mess up the two wire prongs on the bottom of the bulb.

Then insert the bulb with the green base into the flower hole. Push the flower up until it is flush with the rim and not blocking any wiring.

Repeat for each bulb until you're done.  Grin My fingers were hurting after 50 bulbs.. To attach leaves, you also need to widen the whole with a scissor and then push it onto the base under the flower.

Edited to add:
Another note, it's also helpful to keep checking the lights after every few flower additions by plugging it in. That way you know where to check if the lights stop working. You may not have replaced the bulb tightly enough. My mistake was putting on all the flowers, then plugging it in. It didn't light up and I had to check all 50 lights to see what went wrong. hehe silly me.

I think they're so pretty, don't you?  Wink

What a good idea! That's so pretty, if I find any of those flowers laying around I'll definitely be trying this. Cheesy

I like, but be careful to by indoor specific lights - the outdoor ones get much hotter and could catch the flowers on fire.
