Hi!

warmfuzzies posted her FO and tutorial (featured project!) recently.  She's inspired me to learn to crochet! Smiley  With her permission, I'm starting this crochet-along! Yea, thanks, Shirley!

Needless to say, I'm going to need help!  Grin

I was already thinking of making this for a present for one of my boys (or maybe myself) so I will join in. Is the project just the hedgehog, or is it too include the shroom too?

You could do both, although I'd check if a crochetalong already exists for that one....

I really hope that this is not too dumb of a question to ask  Embarrassed but I don't understand when it says don't join the rounds but to work in spirals.
I have only done one crochet project ( a mouse )which was worked in spirals so I get that part but what would you be doing if you DID join the rounds??
Thanks for helping a total beginner....

Awww... I'd love to hedgehog along (I know a kid who would love one...) but too many WIP this week.  Sad

If you join the rounds conventionally, you get a little spiral "ladder" effect that goes around your item.  It's not all that noticeable if you're working in a fuzzy yarn, but it can be very obvious in a plain yarn.  You can avoid the effect by doing an extra sc OVER the ch 1 that begins a round.

This thread explains it better: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=147155.0
