I've been making a bunch of these too for Christmas.  Just google crochet snowflake and you get a lot of patterns. 

This one is my favorite because I get bored with making picots, it's pretty fast and very easy to block.

Thanks so much for the link! My mom used to collect these when I was little and hung them in all the windows at Christmas-time. Maybe I'll make her some for Christmas!

So last year for the crochet olympics I made up a bunch of crochet snowflakes, I did not get to the stringing them together part BUT that is my plan this year, (just dug them all out!) I am making them into a garland for the fireplace... it would be fun to have them over a large mirror or front window too! Just another thing you can do with your lovely snowflakes!!!
