Ugh lasandri, that's awful!  Yay to BeaG the hero though.

Hope you're ok tomate. Cute cards.  I think the price is fair enough if they take the same time.  I would expect to play less for gift tags than note cards but I think the small difference is fine. Overall, I think they're a bargain!

I'm not really big on the whole forum thing...even though many say it helps business. You can find rude people lurking on all forums (yes..even here on craftster...I know, hard to believe  Wink ).. sure it gets under my skin, but I just try my best to ignore it, and usually someone will defend you ...way to go BeaG !!

Did anyone get a convo in etsy from a woman who says she wants to buy something from you to send to her son in Nigeria Huh I got one this morning... I know its bad, but now any time I think of Nigeria ... Scam, pops into my head. Anyways, I'm sure it was a scam cause their account is now closed. Just wondered if anyone else got one of those.

low and behold...
i actually sold 3 listings of my cake earrings today! just when you think you are down...you can be up in a moments notice!

thanks for reading....  Grin

Thanks for the compliments on our plates rrb21

I have also found some pretty disturbing things on ETSY .... most only because I find the item(s) "gross" and I can't understand how people might want to buy them Huh but hey, it takes all kinds to make this world spin.

I couldn't agree more about the forums jungrrl. What makes someone think it's ok to tell lasandri to use birth control Huh I doubt that they would say such an insensitive thing to her face. Some people can be so rude when hiding behind their monitor.

Nice cards tomate! They remind me of some my mom used to make but she also used bits of bric a brac and cut outs (leaves and such) from embroidered edging (which could be found at one timei but I don't think is made any longer).

Re: promoting your shops .... sort of on topic/ sort of not .... Does anyone know if it is still ok to post adverts to this forum?

The rules listed there seem to contradict the rulesl for the rest of this board.

Serendipity- I think this post answers your question:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=133406.0

It states that that "Links to Shops..." forum is the ONLY place on craftster that it is ok to post links and ads for your shops. Yes, that does contradict the rules everywhere else, but openly so. So I'd say post away there!

And tomate... as always your cards are too cute!

I try really hard to comment on what everyone else has to say. Back to the "offensive" question- Does anyone know any rules regarding avatars? I went back to lasandri's forum post to see who had told her to use birth control, and I was pretty disgusted by the person in question's avatar as well. Do admin's care? It's not really pornographic, but gross. And don't feel bad, I looked up more of her posts and they were beyond gross, flighty, etc.
Good Luck with your baby lasandri! I unfortunately was 13 days late, but I like to think I was worth the wait. Hopefully when I have kids they are all quick though, I can imagine it gets pretty miserable to go long, especially when it's getting into summer time.

tomate- I can see where a problem could come with the smaller cards costing as much as regular cards, just because Hallmark can do them so much cheaper. But, I think you are more likely to find buyers who appreciate handmade quality, and aren't concerned. I think a lot of people are mislead to think etsy is a bargain website, so you may get a few of those, but I wouldn't worry until the problem arises. Women's Day had a little piece on etsy last month, and it actually said that etsy was a place to buy directly from the artist for a mere song- I hope admins aren't promoting that image!

Regarding that comment that was made to Lasandri, that is why I want to kick myself when I get bored and read those forums. It's offensive to me, but not because of mature content. It's offensive because there is so much ignorance and lack of maturity.

P.S. Lasandri, keeps us posted when the baby comes! I love to see baby pictures! Smiley

Just wanted to post to introduce myself since I feel like I've been eavesdropping Wink...  I am just getting started with my etsy shop (no items posted yet!)  I plan to sell my purses as well as tutorials and some sewing supplies. My boyfriend is a graphic designer. He is working on the avatar and banner. He is also designing some iron-on transfers for t-shirts, embroidery, beading etc.

Anyways, just wanted to say that I have read a lot of this thread and it has been so so so helpful.  I feel like it has given me a good sense of what to expect about selling on etsy. Thank you!

I love all of your work!
