I'm thinking that people are still going to shop for the holidays, as they do every year.  Maybe just not spend huge amounts on large things...?  (Which I don't sell anyway.)  And I agree with you, sarasvati -- I see the handmade trend growing even more this year.

sewbettie, that is a tough situation.  I guess because I sell on such a small scale, I hadn't even thought of your situation/predicament.  I hope things turn around quickly, too.

hollylynne -- your neckwarmers are so pretty!  I can't wait to see what you come up with this year.

Some little exciting news.... I was featured in a third blog this week -- http://indiefindsonetsy.blogspot.com/Smiley  Now if only I could get picked up by modish, or design*sponge, etc. (like you, sewbettie!!)  Wink

My shop seem to be going slow. Which at the time can be a wee bit of a blessing. I'm try to build up stock for Salon Con.
When it's super slow I find that if you post new things at least once a week it sometimes  will pick up.

Well here is a little Etsy vs. Big Cartel comparison. I listed my new mod butterfly fabric at the same time on both Etsy and Big Cartel. The big cartel listing has received 26 views but the etsy listing has only received 9. I should mention though that all of my promoting efforts are now aimed at big cartel and not etsy so that might make the difference. Also, I seem to get more buys per view on etsy than on big cartel. Hope this info helps Hollylynne!

Things are going really well in my shop right now!

I sold three things today, and few weeks ago one of my items was on the front page!

Hi Craftsers! It HAS been forever and ever since I've posted on here. I first opened in March of 06! I started with not selling and dispairing, to selling over $800 a month and then burning out, and doing everything from trying to sell handknit socks (that's how I chose the name 'Sockdiva' and I never did sell a pair of socks!  Cheesy) to my staple Sockbug purse to now trying to sell more expensive jewelry! I regret letting the momentum die, and it does if you don't keep promoting, to almost starting over now.

So I'm back, to make sure I'm still making things by sharing them here, to offer encouragement, see all the awesome things you guys are making, and trying to pace myself better so I keep ENJOYING making things, and not burning out again!

For fun, I thought I'd share a photo of the first 'jewelry' I listed, and my latest!

I discover polymer clay! And I added a glass bead! Woot!

Left polymer for lapidary. Now I have HUNDREDS of pounds of raw rock, a 14 inch saw and Genie. And I discovered Eni...

Cheers!

Hi everyone. I have a new shop on Etsy. I just am trying to get my mind off of some hard things today, so I'm focusing on the positive of the shop. It's called theDreamdom, and it's another vintage store. I've seen a lot of those on Etsy lately, but I really like them and have ALWAYS wanted to run my own 2nd hand store with things that I REALLY like. This is really cool: I've sold 7 things in the first three days that the shop has been open! I think it's because I have such low prices. But I hike the prices anywhere from 10-100 times what I pay for them, so I'm still making a HUGE profit. It's all for charity, too, so I think that it's Blessed.  Grin
Anyway, like I said, just trying to focus on some positives, and didn't have anyone else to share this all with. So, thanks for reading. Smiley

Congrats, Migoto!
I absolutely love that bottom necklace, Sockdiva!
Allyinthevalley, I really like the ideas behind your charity etsy shop.  I know it will do well -- your items are very cute (and way-inexpensive!)  I also think it will be blessed, like you said.  Best of luck to you!

Hollylynne, did you ever contribute to the Sampler again?  I was toying with that idea, with the holidays coming up and such..... I am going to contribute to The Spotted Box next month.  (www.hyenacart.com/TheSpottedBox)  It's a box of samples, etc. that have a lot of natural-mama-type stuff, as well as indie artists.  I think it will be a good fit for me and my natural dryer sachets.  They also have an Etsy shop (TheSpottedBox) if anyone wants to check them out.  Has anyone participated with them before?

I am also about to do my first consignment in a B&M for designer/OOAK handbags! Yay!  They liked my totes and wallets, so I'm going to place a few of those.  Exciting!
