I thought the project for making little notebooks out of playing cards sounded like fun.  Instead of a playing card, though, I used a trading card from the sci-fi movie "Serenity":

I made this for the most recent Firefly/Serenity swap:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=130197.40

I printed out papers to use on the inside that had the outline of Serenity, the ship.  Instead of ribbon at the top I used a strip of red pleather.

I had worried that the glue along the edge only wouldn't hold, but I followed the instructions in the book and it all worked out fine.  Smiley

Awesome idea!  I have a whole set of old Goonies trading cards and was wondering what I could do with them.

This is such a great idea. I have some Dr Who cards I could use and some people I know would love it.

That's too cool, I like that you didn't follow the instructions to the letter, after all, we aim to misbehave.

I made some using chipboard letter stencils, they ended up smaller, but still cool looking.

I made notebooks out of discontinued wallpaper books.  Huge selection and easy and cute.  I cut the w/p double the length folded over the paper and stapled.  You could punch holes and use ribbon.  I made mine for my kids and the could choose age appropriate design.
