This is my first hat!  Once I got the hang of it, it only took me a couple of hours - it's made of Lion's Brand Black yarn on 10 1/2 inch circular needles....  thanks to everyone who answered my stupid questions before i started!

i just googled "basic knit hat" and played around with the patterns - i didn't use a single one but it ended up that i had to start over and sort of winged it from there.
