My friends mom said that the man that owned Wal-mart and stuff died and now the kids have taken over and they are phasing everything out......

so, the same wal-marts that cut lay away will probably be the same walmarts that caut their fabric departments.

Man, im gonna save up some money and before they close, stock up on cheap fabrick! lol

Dear Walmart,

What happens when I want to celebrate life by buying some material and sewing something creatively inspired? Cry I guess you want me to pick out some balloons and paper plates with the current cartoon of the month on them and have a party instead.

Signed,
soon to be former customer

well poo.  my college town has two walmarts, a hancock, and a hobby lobby, but i've bought the most fabric at the ghetto-tastic walmart on the east side.  $3 or less a yard and lots of unique fabric (like pink and white hibiscus terry cloth)-- i'll take 3 yards or whatever's on the bolt.  guess i'll just drive the extra 15 minutes to the shiny new super target (which has a slowly growing craft section!) for everthing.  i only wish target wasn't so expensive.  i don't want to pay an extra $2 for the same toilet paper.

as far as the trying to find someone to cut the fabric, has anyone else just done it themselves?

If you can't convince them, confuse them.

Doesn't it seem that maybe the reason certain sections of the store aren't as successful is because of the employees, not the products???

I have to admit, some are obnoxiously rude.  Some are awesome though.

Wow, I'm really surprised.  The WalMarts in my area seem to be expanding their sewing/fabric area.  I live in an area where there are Joanns, Hancocks, Michaels and Ben Franklin plus small independantly owned stores.  I had no idea they were reducing/getting rid of the sewing/craft department in some stores.

I agree that sometimes it's the employees that make you not want to shop in certain places.

 Angry

This totally sucks, I live in upstate NY, and thanks to Wal-Mart the local fabric shops went out of business.. If they close, I have no idea where I am going to get fabrics..... And I don't like ordering fabric offline, cause that swatches they show are always too small for me.
