I finally got done with another triangle bag using an improved pattern. It still needs a little tweaking.  Tongue Here are the pics of the bag. I'm working on writing up a tutorial.

This one is a little larger than the first, by about an inch each way.

One thing I have found that I really like about this style bag is that I can swing it to the front when I have to wear my work backpack (backpack style laptop bag).

With all my stuff inside. I'm thinking of maybe a ring to hang keys coming from the inside top.

SewPixie the Innovator--  I love your bag!  I love that you can wear it several ways.  It looks like you treated the outer and lining fabrics as one and then serged the inside seams.  I also see that you made a SewPixie brand zipper opening!  Your zipper pocket tute can be used for more than a zipper pocket!  Very cool!

*some pics are too large, so they now are also links to the full-size image*

SewerRat: You are correct!!  Grin

Ok here is an attempt at a tutorial.

First the pattern.
Pattern now available as an attachment at the bottom of this post. You must be logged in to view it. - jungrrl
http://sewpixie.tinfoildreams.com/images/tritute_pattern.jpg
1/2" seam allowances are used. It is bacially a right triangle with 1" added to the side and bottom + .5" seam allowance. The tips are snipped off to be 1.5" before the added 1" for depth and the seam allowance. Since all the depth in this bag is in the corner, only .5" depth is added to the slant edge of the pattern and then .5" seam allowance. The zipper hole on the pattern is about 16" long.

Cut: 2 of bag material, 2 of lining, interfacing as desired (I used a lighter interfacing on just the bag material), strap (width desired plus seam allowances, mine are cut 3"; length enough to go across your chest plus ease plus 1" for seam allowance). Also needed, one long (16" or so) zipper.

Second front side.

I am left handed and wear this bag over my right shoulder. If you would wear it over your left shoulder you would want to make your bag a mirror image of mine.

Do the SewPixie zipper thing with one bag piece and one lining piece. This is covered in another tutorial. When you are done, your bag piece and lining will be wrong sides together. For the rest of the project, treat this as one piece.

Why?? With the first bag like this I tried to have the lining and bag together only at the zipper and strap ends, on the slant edge the lining was a pain, so I tried it this time with the lining and outer fabric as one

Third main seams
http://sewpixie.tinfoildreams.com/images/tritute_2.jpg
Take your other bag piece and lining piece and put them wrong sides togerher. For the rest of the project you will treat them as one piece.

Un-zip your zipper a little and put both sides together, the lining sides of each piece facing out. Sew the long seams. Finish the seams as desired. They will be visible inside the bag, the slant edge more so than the rest.

Forth corner
http://sewpixie.tinfoildreams.com/images/tritute_3.jpg
This will look familiar if you've made a Jordy style bag. On the right angle corner, pinch in the ends so that the seams are in the middle of each edge. Sew and finish edge.

Fifth strap
http://sewpixie.tinfoildreams.com/images/tritute_4.jpg
Sew strap as desired.

Insert one end inside the bag, which is still lining side out, out the top open space. Take the angled point edge and fold it towards the back side of the bag. Pin in place and pin strap sandwiched inside the bag.

http://sewpixie.tinfoildreams.com/images/tritute_5.jpg
Repeat for the bottom-side opening.

http://sewpixie.tinfoildreams.com/images/tritute_6.jpg
Make sure the strap isn't all twisted up inside the bag and that the outer side of your strap is facing the correct way. Sew the two openings shut, reinforce with a 2nd line of stitching, and finish the edge.

Finish Un-zip the rest of the way and turn right-side out and enjoy!

I'm thinking this may be a bit of an unclear tute so feel free to ask questions. And please post pics if you make one.  Grin
