Does anyone know of a CatScratch tutorial or how hard it would be to Make one yourself?

Like a scratching post?  My uncle makes them.  He uses a heavy cardboard tube and two wooden circles (one for the top, one for the base), cuts a whole in the top circle and one or two along the side of the tube (for the kitties to play in), and covers the whole things in carpet.
