Not stupid questions at all!

They're both. I found some Valentine's beads that were on strands like Mardis Gras beads, so I used those for the main filling. Then I sprinkled loose beads all over where there were gaps.

The strands of beads are opaque gold and red. The loose beads are the transluscent pinks and purples.

I'm loving all the melted bead bowls I've seen on Craftster, but this takes the cake! It's awesome as a lampshade!

Amazing, I had good luck with small ones but I am having major issues with not cooling the big one enough before shaping it over the bowl so it melted fast and got under the metal bowl I used... not happy, next time I am going to take foil and put it over the bowl and out from it.
Someday I want to do some like yours
