Total Brain Block: Christmas Gift for Brother in Law

I've pretty much figured everyone out, but him...my husband is NO help at all, and he's been his brother for 24 years! I love how it's all down to me.  We're about to have our first baby, and we're spending a small fortune to go "home" for Christmas (we're Air Force) so I'm looking for gifts on a budget.

Info that may help:
-He's 29
-SSGt in the Air Force (and proud of it!)
-Catholic and soon to be godfather to our baby (and proud of it too!)
-Currently in Seattle, but calls St Louis home
-Single, but he's so super nice, I don't know why...

I honestly don't know his interests. Neither does my loser husband (hello, brothers!!). He's pretty serious but laid back at the same time. He's such an "idea" guy...we cannot drive anywhere without him talking about what would make "x" better in the city of St Louis.

He isn't very trendy. I can tell he's matured past all of that sort of stuff.

Also, whatever we give, will make the trip to STL in our suitcase and will go back to Seattle in his.

Ideas would be great. I can sew/serge, stencil, make little crafts...simple sort of stuff like that.

oy, I'm stumped! Uhm... have you tried asking their parents for ideas??? If all else fails, make a foodgift maybe?

Having moved around a bunch ( we are Army ) I know how it is to be one place but call another place home. One of the best Christmas gifts I got from my friend was a framed picture of my hometown. She basically just found a really nice picture of the area at sunset and framed it in a pretty frame. It has gone everywhere with us, coast to coast and to Germany and (soon to go) back.
I dont know if that is something that would survive 2 trips in a suitcase, especially if it has glass, but just an idea.
