Hello all!  I am having a problem.  I am trying to knit a basketweave pattern with a bamboo yarn.  The transitions between the knitting and purling stitches are very loose.  The transitions between purling and knitting are fine.  How can I tighten up these loose stiches?  I'm sure this is a very common problem, but I'm not sure where to find the solution.  I've used this same stitch pattern before in wool and did not experience the same looseness.  Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

My toes are cold.

It's your tension.  When I switch from knit to purl that first stitch tends to be a little looser too, so I just try to be conscious of my tension.  If you give that first purl stitch a little tug to snug it up, you should be fine.  You're probably noticing it more now because you're using a smoother/silkier yarn.

Mistake?  No... it's an Unexpected Design Element.  I put it there on purpose.  *ahem*
