Ok, I have a family full of loggers to make presents for. The dad is a life long logger and diesel mechanic. I know he loves logging, trucks, his Kenworth, cows, and buffalo.
His son (my significant other) is a logger / Aerospace Engineer. He loves rockets, working on cars, trucks, logging, etc..
The brother is a 21 year old hormone crazed logger. I'm thinking something involving a pin up girl. He just built his own home so maybe something a guy could use in his house?

I can sew. I have no idea what to make though. Any suggestions would be great. And remember, these guys are kinda redneck. PJ pants (while they'd be fun for me to make) just won't work.
Help? I'd greatly appreciate any ideas.

uh, maybe blankets/quilts of their favorite sports team?  stenciling tshirts/hoodies? bake/cook them something?  as with the pin ups, i prefer the vintage pin ups ala bettie page to the modern day.  perhaps if you could find some pics (thriftstore, order off ebay?) frame them, or make a calender, magnets...?  maybe paint something on shot glasses/beer glasses, and if you got the extra dough, throw in their favorite liquor/beer?

You could sew them plaid flannel shirts Grin.  Um, I think the beer glasses idea is a good one.  How about etched glass beer mugs?  You could use pin up girl silhouettes for your bro and maybe deer or moose or trucks or something for the other two.  They're not too hard to make.

I second the etched shot/beer glasses idea!   They're pretty simple to make, but they're neat-looking, useful, and manly.  Cheesy

Sounds like I better learn how to etch lol
I thought about making them custom suspenders. Has anyone ever seen directions for that? I wish I could find something unique like patterned elastic or something..

I saw etching kits at Hobby Lobby today for $15, and if you go online there is a 40% off coupon good until tomorrow. Hope that helps.

Fleece blankets are always and option...and easy. They have all sort of sports teams available. I saw some pin up type panels at Walmart just the other day. That's my only fabric outlet that isn't 60 miles away, so I'm sure other stores have a better selection That might work for the guy with the new house. I know Hancock used to have an awesome selection of pinup girl fabrics in cottons if you'd like a more traditional blanket or maybe pillows for his sofa.

Pinups are very in right now, so if you need pics for your projects, I've seen plenty of great calendars out there. Target even gets items in their $1 section every so often.

I thought of something else for the pin ups....how about coasters for his house? I saw them somewhere on here. Maybe in featured projects? I know they have some cute things in there, you may want to check it out.
Good luck!

I've heard that etching isn't so bad.  (Haven't gotten around to trying it myself, of course...)

This might be a horrible stereotype that's happening in my brain, but would they like...hats?  With...earflaps?

Or maybe some scarves.  Can you knit/crochet?  If you can't, you can always just use some fleece or soft fabric to make a dark-coloured warm scarf.  (I find that dark colours generally seem to indicate masculinity.)

As for suspender elastic, I suggest eBay!

for the suspenders...you could get really thick not so noticable that its elastic elasti and paint polka dots / stripes or something on it..i have some and its justl ike... white elastic with black polka dots. but i bought them ($6!!!). planning on wearing them with my snowpants snowboarding hehe. anyways i was going to say sew material aroudn the elastic so it would be cool looking but then it wouldnt stretch / be bunchy if you made the material extra long so when it was extra stretched it would fit. unless you could figure out a way to hide bunchiness / unless you made the length of the fabric exact lenght of the pple your making it for..but then theyd find out. ugh sorry if i made no sense im really tired. the beermug thing would be cool though - and if you couldnt do etching you could always do glass paint and paint it plaid lol...or just make them little stuffed loggers..that would have no purpose. unless they were like those slippers that you stick your foot in the stomach! except that mite be really hard. lol like i said, im tired. good luck!

What about like a puffy down vest... they are very... woodsy... as well as pretty stylish these days.  They might be into those!

Good luck,

Lisa
