so you guys have me totally addicted now.  after seeing all the amazing felted-ness on this board i had to get into the act.  I found some nice wool yarn on sale at hobby lobby uber cheap and knocked this out yesterday.  Since im an old hat at crochet i thought that form of felting would be a good starting point.

Its approx. 5''x7'' and unlined and has no form of closure (no snap, button, etc) and the handles are gold embroidery rings.  do i need lining or a closure?  and i've been debating putting a gold broach of some sort on the front or a silk flower.  what do you all think?

I like it the way it is, but I guess a field test is in order to measure its practicality!!

girlbotgoods, So glad you were inspired to full some of your crochet work.  The bag is really pretty.

Note:
While the bag is lovely, it is being moved to the crochet board.
Felt as shown in the Craftster felting boards is handmade felt made directly from fiber or has touches/designs done with needle felting.  If it was yarn or thread first and is woven, knit, or crocheted it is not truely felt - though many these days do call it felt.  Many posters on the felting board also do fulled work such as your crocheted bag or reconstructions from fulled sweaters or fabric - but those items are posted in other areas.  We like all those techniques, they just do not fall within the scope of the Felting boards.

Please do check the Felting FAQ http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=197.0 as that may be helpful.  There are lots of great tutorials and felt a longs on the felting board if you would like to join us in trying felting from fiber, we are always happy to help people learn this fiber art form. Thanks.

Very lovely!  You make me want to crochet my own.  I'd like to try crocheting some roving I have and see how that would full in the washing machine.  I believe that is basically what the Caron brand Felt It! yarn is, right?  Maybe with just a light twist.

Anyway...I'd certainly think your bag is lining-worthy and the gold brooch sounds like it would be so pretty on it.  Let us see it updated with the embellishment, which ever one you choose!
