Crafting is a lifelong itch of mine

I saw Grumperina make socks using Hello Yarn's Pattern and I loved the cables. So, I decided to use it in a hat for my dad.
i borrowed my brother's head to get a good pic of how it looks with the ribbing stretched out...it was terribly difficult to get a crisp picture of my own head  >.<:

Im not sure if you can see it in this picture, but I like how every so many stitches of the ribbing flow into the slanting left twists of the cable.

I used Lion Brand Wool Ease in pines with US7 for the ribbing and US8 for the rest. It is over 96 stitches, and I modified the cable to be over 8 stitches by making it k6 p2.

here it is off the head:

I wanted to make the ribbing extra soft and extra warm for the ears, so I began the hat with a provisional cast on. Later, I used the provisional cast on stitches to knit another 11 rows of ribbing with Lion Brand Microspun (with US9s to make up for the smaller gauge of microspun) and sewed it to the inside:

only thing is, do you think it's manly enough??

It's great! It's a good unisex pattern/colour.

I TOTALLY think it's manly enough.  My bro would freak out to have one of these.  And my dad would probably even wear it (he's not much of a hat-guy).  The colors you used are perfectly manly!  Great job!
