I've been wanting to make my own tarot deck for awhile now, but I realize this is a HUGE undertaking. If I don't have support, I'd never finish. So I thought: Craftalong.

I don't think Id want to rush through the whole deck, so perhaps one card every month? or every 2 weeks? maybe start with the major arcana and see how everything works out after that?

Is anyone interested? any thoughts?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to set up a very general guideline. If you don't want to follow them, more power to you. These are mostly for myself and anyone needing a push of guidance.

Starting Sunday, November 19th we will be working on 0-The Fool and 1-The Magician until Saturday, December 2

Also, feel free to discuss anything tarot related. Personal meanings, favorite decks, history, etc. I know that I, as a fairly new reader, would love to hear any and all of it.

It's so friggin much FUN making these cards. Seriously. I'll probably make my own set as I go along in the swap, but I'll definately keep an eye on this thread as well.

I find it's difficult to decide what to put on each card. It's a lot of interpretation of what the card means, followed by deep thought of what images convey that meaning. I'm trying to keep it fairly simple myself. Maybe if I can get through one deck in simplified form, I'll go back and add more information to each card. Astrology, hebrew letters, alchemy....Oh, it would be a LOT of research. But fun.

Wish you the best of luck!

amaryllisrose- thank you for posting that! Im not sure how i missed it. when i first thought of this i thought it would be a cool swap, but to me, personal interpretation is important. So owning and using MY OWN deck is a cool idea, hence a craftalong

Anjelle- I'd love to see the cards you make, I'm very interested in the different ways people interperet each card.

I'm interested in joining your craftalong.
Do you have anything done/almost done?
What is your favorite card?
I think Magician, Empress, Priestess, Sun, Moon, Queen of Pentagrams are intriguing.

Tarot card gallery was superb!
I would like to see if amaryllisroze has any more tarot cards hanging out with her.

Nope, haven't  even started yet.  I find myself intriqued by a different card every few days, But the Queens always pop out at me. Lately, the Queen of Swords has felt particularly relevant.

I find that certain cards do keep reappearing for weeks or months at a time, I did go through a queen of swords phase a while back, but she seems to have left me...for now!

Ah, the ol' persistant card trick. But really, I'm not sure there's a need to work on your cards in any particular order. I think if a card is jumping out at you, maybe that's the one you should focus on. At least until another one starts it's own attack.  Cheesy

I'm still really stuck on my Magician card. I did manage to get one together for the swap, but I'm not really satisfied with it on a personal level. I think I'm focusing there more because it is so determinedly eluding me, rather than that it stands forth. Something to think on, I guess.

I agree. The cards are going to do what they want. Why not let them? lol.

Does everyone else think this is a god idea? Should we have a deadline for our first card? Can you tell I've never run a craftalong before? XD
