I have a slight obsession with gnomes, to say the least. I have over 30 lawn gnomes, have done many paintings of gnomes, and already have 4 shirts with gnomes, to illustrate my point. So when I saw this hoodie in the Delia's catalogue, I decided I must have one like it. However, $45 plus shipping and handling is much more than I can afford, so here's my version:

The inside of the heart is polka-dotted fabric, and the border around it and on the pockets is a red rickrack-sort of thing. For the gnome, I did an iron-on transfer (yes, it's the Travelocity gnome Tongue)

I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out on the baby rib material, but I think it turned out pretty well. Sorry the picture is so bright.

I think I might add something else, but I'm not sure what... it just doesn't seem completely finished to me. Any suggestions?

I like the contrasting zipper in the original, so maybe a blue or red zipper? I'd do blue.

I love the original but I hate the part around the neck, so I'm glad you ommitted it. Very cute job.

You came in from the darkness and held the door open wide
You stood there like a vision before my unbelieving eyes
I believe in what I see and also what I hear
But did the night play tricks on me or were you really there.

It's very nice, I like how you got rid of the neck part, too.
Was it supposed to be some type of beard for you?

Haha, now that you mention it, the neck part does kind of look like a beard. In the Delia's catalogue they refered to it as a "bib", which I suppose makes sense.
