so it goes like this:

once upon a time i found a sweater at dollar a pound.  there it is, blissfully ignorant of its fate...

gahahahahaha, attack with scissors and unravel unravel unravel!!!

the sweater is dead.  very sad.  but dont you worry, this pile of yarn is headed for bigger and better things.

winding...

everything goes into the microwave for five minutes and when its done...

TADA!

and they all lived happily ever after.

THE END.

WOW.  That was a pretty creative way of using the yarn.  Now, what happens if you have to wash it?  I bet you it would be the best smelling wash you've ever done!

Very nicely done! Ah, I sure miss those dollar a pound days when I was a lass going to college in Boston. There was one  a couple of blocks from the MIT stop.

Do you think washing with white vinegar would lock in the color?

Koolaid is really acidic, which is why it will dye natural fibers like wool.  You can add some vinegar to your dye to make it more acidic if you want, but you shouldn't really have any trouble with the color washing out, as long as you've dyed a protein fiber.

That looks like fun. How is the finished dyed item holding up?

When we were little we would put a little braid in our hair and make a crochet ribbon.  We would then dunk the little braid and the yarn ribbon in the same shade of koolaid, wait for both to dry, and viola! instant fashionistas!
