The reader's digest Complete Guide to needlework is one of the best craft books I have ever seen. I found this book at the Goodwill last weekend and I don't know how I ever survived without it. It's a brick of yarny knowledge. It seriously covers anything you could ever think of doing with yarn and needles. The book is great for beginners and advance lovers of needlework. I love that it shows you how to make your own crochet and knit sweater patterns. All the info you'd ever need to adjust patterns or create your own is in here. I really enjoy the different ways it shows you how to make necklines and hemlines for your garments. If you are looking for a resource that will help you improve your technique this is the one. It also covers quilting, Rug-making, macrame, applique, needlepoint, patchwork, tatting, lacework. There are all types of stitches included for each type of needlework. This book builds you up as a baby needlework artist into a well rounded one in just a few lessons. I can't wait to try the other crafts that are covered in this book. I'm seriously madly in love right now.

Ooo! I remember that, I used to check it out from the library all the time when I was a kid... Hours of entertainment Grin If I could only get one craft book, that would probably be the one (the one I read was translated into Finnish, and probably a ton of other languages!).

Oh man I love this book..
I have it in dutch.. thats the only problem I have with it cause I dont get dutch knitting or crochet patterns Sad they make little sense, then again maybe I should attempt to read the whole thing instead of just reading the pattern, thinking i have to use 19 needles (they say '19th needle' instead of 'row 19' for instance.. this is confusing at first glance.. for me atleast Roll Eyes)

I love this book, its the foundation block of my craft book collection.    I pulled out my copy a couple of weeks ago to macrame a belt.  Definately worth the money.

Oh man, my grandma bought me this and the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing.  I.LOVE.THEM.  I use them for everything!  Most of the other books I have are there to look pretty next to these ones that I actually use.

There are some books with more specific techniques, like I want to learn enterlac knitting and this doesn't cover it.  But I also wanted to learn to tat and the book's got loads of instructions for that!

I agree w/ you guys, fantastic resource!!
