What frosting are you using? Maybe its not the structure, its the mortar. Does anyone know if there is a good and a bad kind of frosting for this?  Huh The stuff you buy usually stays wet and thats not good, but I imagine crafty lady that you are, you wouldn't use store bought icing so I'll just shut up now.  Lips sealed
OH! why not try making it of "bricks" of gingerbread, that's bound to have more stability. Shocked

I swap, so in crafting terms I guess that means I put out... You?

Royal icing works best for stability.  It gets really hard.  One of my best friends is actually an engineer - I'm sending him a sketch of the gingerbread house I'm planning this year so he can tell me where to put extra support, etc. etc.  Even if we don't do a challenge I'll post photos when I'm done....  Smiley

I love this idea.  I saw a big gingerbread house in the shops the other day for 60.  60!!!!!!for gingerbread!!!  I'm going to make 10 of my own, sell them and retire on the profits.

Royal icing (or anything with frothy egg white in it) set like rock, and should hold it together.

What if we expand this into gingerbread house or people? I know I always have more fun with the actual gingerbread people (or critters...last year's best one that I did was a lobster holding a dreidel)
