Hey Puddins! I'm Harley Quinn!

I was Harley Quinn for Halloween this year! The best thing to come from comics translated into children's animation.

I made the entire costume, including the eyemask. No patterns for this baby, because unfortunately, there were none! I recommend Somewhat Stretchy for help sewing spandex catsuits, though. The headpiece caused the most trials and tribulations, the bodysuit the least. The gun is a Megazooka. The shoes were spraypainted to match.

Some tips:

• Spandex is actually not the devil, just a close relative. If at all possible, use a Serger. When making small things like gloves, just cut two blobs out and sew the glove shape onto the blob and THEN cut out the glove. Sewing small seam allowances in spandex IS actually the real devil.
• Craft foamies are jack-of-all-trades awesomeness. The mask on my face is craft foam, heated with an embossing tool and pressed onto my face while pliable. Attached with spirit gum and/or liquid latex.
• When doing a headpiece out of unstable fabric, go to a wig shop and get one of those styrofoam heads and pin the fabric in place on the head to draft a pattern.

Hope everyone had as much fun as I did! I can't wait for next Halloween. Now my only problem is trying to top this one... I don't wanna give up Harley!

 I wanted to be harley so badly this year but left it too late so I was robin instead, i'll be starting early for next year!

 Little nervous about spandex, i was thinking of just cutting black and red leotards up to cheat
How easy was it to do the hood? Did you make booties as well or have to do the buy a red and black pair thing?

Hey NELLYSAM.

You may be better off just making the entire suit from scratch- I found the catsuit was actually the easiest part of the costume. The headpiece took me a week of cursing, pins, wasted spandex, and frustration. It is made in sections though, about 7 sections, sewn together to fit my head with less bumps. I highly suggest you use a serger when making this costume with spandex, because my regular sewing machine just kind of gave up the ghost with it.

For the shoes, since I was running out of time after wasting it all on the headpiece, I bought white canvas shoes and painted them with acrylic paints.
