A quick question with the pattern, what does BLO mean?  It's in the feet.  And I'm assuming you're using American terms in the pattern?  I know from experience you should check these things before starting!

BLO means back loop only, so you crochet into the back loop, not both. It makes edges in amigurumi, so this will give you the base of the feet. And yes, I am using American terms, even though I'm British. I actually think they make more sense, and are more widespread now we get most of our patterns off the internet.

Cool icon BTW, when I was little I always wanted a toy Dogmatix, maybe I should crochet one...
