This year I decided to go as an often overlooked (but beautiful) insect, the moth.  My entire costume (minus the shirt, tights, headband, shoes, and unmentionables) was made by me.

I have six legs (my real legs don't count!), antennae, and a fuzzy thorax and abdomen.  Not pictured is the proboscis I made out of a party favor...  Good times.

This is the best photo of my costume, but it also has my monkey baby in it.  Sorry!

*In response to the posted questions:*

I made the wings out of an old paint tarp that I spray painted.  I used wire to make them lay like that.  The "antennae" are attached to a headband with wire.

Yes, I also made the monkey costume, but from a pattern.

O.K.- twist my arm, here is a gratuitously cute monkey picture of my baby girl.

Baby + monkey costume = best thing ever

Wow, that is gorgeous! I love the wings!! How did you ever get them to be so... moth-y? Beautiful.
The monkey baby makes my uterus rumble, is it your monkey baby? And did you make that costume too?

Many questions, I know! Wink

And, is it just my eyes, or do you really look like Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine in Seinfeld)?

Anyway: GORGEOUS COSTUMES!

AAAAHHHH!!
and again...
AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
what a couple, the 2 of you!  at first i thot it was odd for you to use a monkey as an acessorie for your costume.  then, when i read and looked at it closer, did i gather it was A REAL BABY!
your outfit rocks!  i love your antena, your wings, and your fluffy stomach.
can we have more pictures?
of the 2 of you?

Wow! I love moths! I had a slight obsession with them a while ago...I wanted to be an entomologist for a while!

Anywho, this is an awesome costume! And your little monkey baby had ooh-ing and aah-ing for quite some time!

What a wonderful, original costume. You look great! I'd love to see more pictures, particularly of the wings and your proboscis. Oh, and a few gratuitously cute monkey baby pics would be cool too!

*swooooooon*

You have my undying admiration for having managed not one but TWO amazingly gorgeous and original costumes (and for having such an adorable kidlet to boot, even though we're not voting on that in this challenge Smiley ).  I absolutely adore the feather antennae!
