Needle Felt Bicycle Cloche

here is a hat I just finished!  I'm very proud of it - it's a new style and i like it a lot.  it's for an HGTV show called That's Clever whose crew will be showing up *tomorrow* (eep!) to prep me for filming the production of this hat.

all those buttons (20 total) were fun to buy but man were they expensive.

Whew!  It went great!  I was nervous but things seemed to go really smoothly.



What a whirlwind! There were only four of them, two cameras, the sound guy, and the director - the producer ran the B camera. I built a little set in the middle of my living room and pretended to make a hat on it.



It was really fun, although for the first time in my life I was The Talent.







This was a strange experience - right when they showed up, I directed them around a little, Showing them where to put stuff and where to park, but then very quickly & clearly my role was to get out of their way until they were ready for me.



We spent the first part of the day with me and the dog doing laps of the alley on my bike - I can only imagine how ridiculous that part will look. It got tense at the end as we went into overtime but what fun! I can't wait to see it, but I'll have to - spring at the earliest. I'll know in January when it airs.

Thanks guys!  It's funny - I had a total breakdown yesterday trying to get my quarterly taxes done - I think in comparison this TV thing will be fun.

In my store?  Yes... I will try to list them in the next two weeks.  After the show I will have to finish all of the early stages the rest of the way, and fix any hurried places from filming.  One of them is being donated to an auction for the San Francisco Bike Coalition - it's one of the reasons I chose the bike theme.

The scariest part is doing the bicycle stamp - so much work has gone into the hat at that point that getting it wrong would be crushing.  I was so afraid with the hero that i stamped it super-light and had to spend a ton of time touching it up.  Need to be more forceful during the filming because I think they will not be happy with me if doing just the bicycle takes half an hour.
