small warning:  baking soda absorbs agua.  if you've got dry skin (my face is like the sahara desert dagnabbit!) i'd steer clear of baking soda.

I've also heard of adding cornstarch for exfoliation.This is one I've used..mix equal parts ground oatmeal and powdered milk,use about 2 tbsp. and mix with enough water to form a smooth paste and use it on your face. It's gentle but effective!!
