if you "painted " the stockings at the bottom before you cut it might work but would be a little itchy?....

Hmmm. I think I'll just invert the toe and sew, THEN cut. I don't know if that makes much sense, but it makes sense to me and I'm the one who'll be doing it so that's the most important thing. Haha.

I think it depends on the stockings...some of mine have frayed a teeeeny  tiny bit, not really enough to bother me--but sewing the edges is probably the best thing to do. Or lining the edges in glue, maybe?

and yeah, good to take friends with you to sex shops--sometimes only for the comedy value... but yeah, people can be creepy, too.

Be sure to post pictures of your costume when you are done; it will probably be adorable!

Clear nailpolish!  I use it to stop runs in stockings all the time, I'm sure it would work for the edges of leg/armwarmers.
But sewing would probably look nicer-  make sure you use stretchy thread!  Tongue

I was thinking Princess Peach but I'd need a Mario.

You could tote along a little Mario doll, maybe?

I think I'll buy them online since they're so cheap on amazon.

Thanks everyone for the help.

I'll definitely post pictures of the finished costume!
