acutally it was cos I'm pretty much an only child (my brother is 14 years older than me) and we lived in the sticks, so I had nothing else better to do than read through my dad's old history and language books.. it came out of sheer boredom

I'm kind of an "only child" like that. Not really, mine are 10 and 13 years younger than me, but when your parents are busy with a baby at 10, you find other things to do, and when you are use to not sharing and all that other stuff, hanging out by your self (you know, setting things on fire and learning Sanskrit) is OK.

I did play with fire once.. didn't burn anything, was just kinda a lighter that got taken away early on.   Then I got banished to the "library" more like our old junk room that had tons of books and old stuff that no one ever used

Sounds interesting...altho I'm sure it wasn't fully appreciated at the time!  Like when my mom told me not to read and walk...didn't find out that that was good advice til I nearly broke my ankle.
