Hi everyone. Here are a few more new rules for swapping that the Swap Mods have come up with based on what needs to be done to help protect swappers and have things run as smoothly as possible.

1. No more Unconditional Swaps

Unconditional Swaps are no longer allowed on Craftster. When there are problems with them, they just cause the Swap Moderators way too much work to sort them out.

2. Organizers must enter IN PROGRESS feedback right away

It is now RULE that when you organize a swap, you must enter the IN PROGRESS feedback for each participant right when they PM you to sign up. Don't wait until the sign-up period is over. The reason it needs to entered right away is that we need to prevent people from signing up for more swaps at once they they are allowed to.

3. Changes to ongoing / wishlist / wistlist swaps

For ongoing / wishlist / wistlist swaps: organizers must have either (1) a back up person to act as a co-organizer to fall back on or (2) a swap mod who you keep in contact with regarding the details of the swap. Furthermore, these kinds of swaps can only last one month. A new incarnation can repeat every month, for example, but the length of each one can only be 1 month.

If an ongoing swap has the same organizer from one month to the next, it is ok to count the next month as the same swap. The organizer should leave the swap as "In Progress", but note in the feedback that the swapper is "Positive for xxx month". This will only work if the organizer doesn't change, because only the person who originally entered the feedback is able to change it. Therefore, if a swap gets a new organizer for the next month, it will be necessary to have it count as two swaps. The organizer for the first month will need to give complete feedback, and the next organizer will have to enter new feedback when people sign up.

Aw. Sad Those were the only swaps I liked to do! What other swaps out there are set up so I can pick who I want to craft for, without being tied to being stuck with who is given me? I don't craft well under pressure, and being given perimeters about what I can do is gonna kill me bigtime. Sad

dont forget!  there are always the ongoing swaps!  they are fun and you do get to choose who you craft for right down to the items, same as the unconditional swaps!  Smiley

mmd32- Ongoing swaps are still allowed, and you can pick who you want to craft for in an ongoing swap.

Taloola, does this include birthday swaps as well? Just wondering since I received in a birthday swap, and haven't returned the favour yet...  Embarrassed (bad Bloo!)

Do they work the same? Like, I don't like to sit on top of the thread to see if I can catch someone, I like to just be able to browse when I am ready.

Anyway, off to recheck those threads...

I understand the problem, but it is very saddening to me that the only swaps with the real meaning of making something just to see someones face light up, with no expecations of a gift back.. have been shut down. Very dissapointing, and seems to me craftster just lost a little bit of it's shine.. *sigh*

again, not complaining.. just sad.

i agree.  sometimes it is nice to just craft for the sake of making someone happy.  not for getting a handmade item in return.

what exactly were the big problems with the unconditional swaps?
